Tags & segmentation
Slice prompts and visibility data with tags, folders, and facet filters
Tags are how you segment everything in Heading. Each prompt carries any number of tags; visibility, sources, and competitor data can all be filtered by them.
Tags and folders
Tags live in tag folders: named groups that act as filter dimensions. A folder might hold product lines, personas, or campaign themes. Tags are managed on the Prompts page, where you can create, rename, recolor, and assign them in bulk.
The Query Type folder
Every property has a system Query Type folder with Branded and Non-branded tags, assigned automatically:
- Branded: prompts that name the brand ("Is Acme Corp good for enterprise?")
- Non-branded: open questions where visibility is earned ("What's the best workflow tool for enterprise?")
Non-branded visibility is the honest competitive read: AI naming you when nobody asked. That's why report surfaces default to it.
Facet filtering
Filters combine the way you'd expect from a faceted search:
- Within a folder: OR. Selecting two tags from one folder shows prompts matching either.
- Across folders: AND. A tag from Query Type plus a tag from Products narrows to prompts matching both.
Tags drive generation
Alongside portfolio-wide generation, each tag has a suggest more action that generates prompts specifically for that segment. That's how you deepen coverage where the portfolio is thin.
Tags replaced the older "topics" concept. If you used topics before, your groupings now live as tags with the same segmentation role and more flexibility.
