The AI platforms Heading tracks and how each is monitored
Heading runs your active prompts against each tracked platform once per UTC day and analyzes every response for mentions, citations, position, and sentiment.
Tracked platforms
| Platform | What it is | Citation behavior |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | OpenAI's conversational AI: the largest consumer AI platform | Source links on web-informed answers |
| Perplexity | AI-native search engine | The most citation-heavy platform; nearly every claim carries a source link |
| Google AI Overview | Google's AI-generated summaries above search results | Cites the indexed pages that informed the summary |
Every paid plan tracks all three platforms. Plans differ by prompt quota, not by platform access. Free snapshot properties are measured across the same three platforms.
Update cadence
- Paid properties: every active prompt × every platform, once per UTC day. Missed fetches are detected and re-run automatically.
- Free properties: a point-in-time snapshot across the same three platforms, measured once. See Your free snapshot report.
Not yet tracked
Claude, Gemini, GPT 5 Search, and Google AI Mode appear in the AI search landscape but are not on the tracking schedule yet. Docs will be updated when they become trackable.
Platform coverage in your data is honest: a metric a platform cannot support is shown as not available, never approximated.
